Where you file the transfer
Through ADEQ's online OWN Portal. Gila is delegated for permitting but does not process transfers locally.
Fee: $70 per parcel, paid to ADEQ.
Important: Gila's own website still hosts an outdated ADEQ transfer form from 2006 that shows a $50 fee. Don't use it. Use ADEQ's current form and pay $70.

Call the department. Gila's septic permit fees aren't published in any accessible document — the county's building-permit fee schedule has no wastewater line items. 928-474-9276.
What's different here
Gila's local ordinance (No. 2014-02) is one of the strictest in the state on process:
- County staff must witness your soil testing. All site investigations, percolation testing, and soil characterizations must be witnessed by Gila County staff to be valid. ADEQ requires no county witness — this is Gila's own rule.
- Two extra local reports required: a Gila County Septic Compliance Report and a Floodplain Status Report
- Site, design, and inspection services are limited to licensed PEs, geologists, registered sanitarians, or those who've completed Gila County's own qualifying courses
